WOD 8/29 & Whole30 day 15

Today felt pretty good, nothing too exciting. I had two hard-boiled eggs for breakfast which was satisfying (it really helped to take a couple days off scrambled eggs). Lunch was more leftover pot roast. I’m finally down to the last bit of it, which I’m thankful for. I need some variety in my life! Dinner, again was a deconstructed taco. This has definitely not been an exciting week for food. I’m going to do some grocery shopping and food prep over the long weekend, so hopefully my meals will be more fun to write about.

I’ve had a few people ask me, now that I’m halfway through, if I’m seeing good results yet, and I feel bad saying no, but honestly, I just haven’t noticed anything. However, I always try and add that I’m expecting the magic to happen in weeks 3 and 4, both for them and to keep myself engaged in the program. If nothing else, I guess I’m glad that I know exactly what’s been going in my body the last two weeks, and that makes me feel good.

Pursuit & Performance:

Strict Press; 3,3,3,3,3,3,3 – add wt. every set if you can
Strict Pull Up Practice ((or Ring Row)); Wt’ed if you need the intensity; 4-6 reps

When I saw this workout, I was actually excited about it. (side note: the fact that I look at wod’s now and even GET excited is a true testament to me being exactly where I need to be!) I knew I could do it all, and I was excited to find out how fast I could do it. 15:50 ladies and gents. Not too shabby if I do say so. The wall balls are what slowed me down the most as my legs were still a little shaky from wod’s earlier in the week, but we pushed through it.

I am also developing some fun callouses on my hands from all the bar work we’ve been doing. I love it. While I can be a girly-girl, and I do love the color pink, there’s a tom-boy side of me that likes getting dirty and playing rough, so I wear these callouses with pride because they came with a lot of sweat and a lot of pain. I’ve earned them!

My last point is the strict press. It’s not my most favorite lift, and I wasn’t too sure how much weight I would be able to tackle with it since starting out, I could barely do it with the bar. Today, I was able to work up to 24kg and do 4-5 rounds with that weight. It was a bit of a struggle at the end, but by God, I did it. I am always surprised at how much stronger I am than I think. I just don’t give myself much credit, and I need to start. These past two months have shown me so much about myself and has built more confidence in me than I’ve had in nearly a year.

I can’t wait to see where I’m at in another couple of months!

I made this calendar for my office at work. Every morning, I get to come in a mark another day off. It makes me happy.
